Tottenham Suffer Fresh Injury Setback as Kevin Danso Ruled Out Ahead of Europa League Clash

Kevin Danso out of injury

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a fresh injury setback with Kevin Danso ruled out ahead of their crucial Europa League showdown against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

The centre-back sustained a muscle injury during Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on Sunday and has since withdrawn from Austria’s squad for their upcoming Nations League play-off against Serbia.

Danso, who has been a key figure in Ange Postecoglou’s defense since arriving on loan in January, had started seven consecutive matches.

However, he was seen heading straight down the tunnel accompanied by medical staff after playing the full 90 minutes against Bournemouth, raising concerns over his fitness.

Reports indicate that the 26-year-old’s muscle issue could sideline him for a significant period, with Postecoglou expected to provide an update during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

This injury comes as a blow for Spurs, who are already without Radu Dragusin for the remainder of the season due to a cruciate ligament tear.

Despite the setback, Tottenham received a boost with the return of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, both of whom played their first league game in three months against Bournemouth.

The duo could now start together for the first time since December 8 as Spurs aim to overturn a 1-0 deficit against AZ Alkmaar.

Additionally, teenage midfielder Archie Gray has showcased his versatility by stepping in at centre-half when needed.

With a place in the Europa League quarter-finals at stake, Tottenham will be hoping to cope with Danso’s absence and strengthen their defensive resilience in Thursday’s high-stakes encounter.
