Mohamed Salah has suggested that Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City could be his last game against Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield, as speculation surrounding his future at the club continues to grow.
On Sunday, Salah played a pivotal role in the Reds’ victory, assisting Cody Gakpo’s opening goal before calmly converting a penalty in the second half.
The spot-kick was awarded after Luis Díaz was fouled by City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.
The result solidifies Liverpool’s commanding position at the top of the Premier League, extending their lead to nine points over second place and 11 points ahead of the defending champions.

When asked about his future post-match, Salah acknowledged the possibility that this may have been his final Anfield appearance against City, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
“Honestly, it’s been on my mind,” Salah told Sky Sports.
“As of now, this is likely my last game against City here at Anfield.
I just wanted to savor every moment—the atmosphere was unbelievable. Hopefully, we’ll win the league, and then we’ll see what happens.”
This marks the second time in just over a week that Salah has addressed his uncertain future.
Following Liverpool’s 3-2 triumph over Southampton last weekend, the Egyptian forward expressed frustration at the lack of progress on a new deal.
“We’re approaching December, and I haven’t received any offers to stay yet, so it seems I’m more likely to leave than stay,” Salah said after the win at St. Mary’s.
“I’ve been here for many years, and there’s no place like Liverpool. But ultimately, it’s not in my hands. The club hasn’t made any moves yet, and that’s disappointing.”
Salah emphasized his strong connection with the fans but reiterated that his future depends on decisions beyond his control.
“I love the fans, and they’ve always shown me love in return,” he added. “But at the end of the day, it’s not up to me or the supporters. Let’s see what happens.”
According to sources, negotiations between Salah’s representatives and Liverpool are ongoing and positive, but the process remains complex. Salah’s current contract, signed in June 2022, made him the club’s highest earner.
If no agreement is reached, Salah will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with clubs outside of England starting January 1, ahead of a potential free transfer next summer.
