“I thought about going back to my farm”_Vitor Roque Reveals Struggles At Barcelona

Vitor reveals Barcelona struggles

Brazilian teenage sensation Vitor Roque has opened up about the challenges he faced at Barcelona, a period he described as the most difficult in his budding career.

The 18-year-old revealed how he considered leaving European football altogether and retreating to the quiet comfort of his family’s farm in Brazil.

Roque joined Barcelona in January from Athletico Paranaense in a high-profile deal worth €35 million.

The move marked the fulfillment of a childhood dream for Roque, who had idolized the Catalan club and its players. However, the transition proved to be anything but smooth.

The most difficult moment was the one I went through at Barcelona,” Roque admitted.

“If you’re not happy, if you don’t have confidence, things won’t go well.

Sometimes, I thought about going back to Brazil, to my farm, where I could be calm and free from the pressure.”

Roque’s struggles stemmed from a lack of confidence and game time, as he managed just two goals in 16 appearances for Barça, mostly as a substitute.

Competing with seasoned striker Robert Lewandowski for the No. 9 position compounded the challenge.

A Fresh Start at Real Betis

Now on a season-long loan at Real Betis, Roque is rediscovering his joy for football.

He has already netted five goals in 17 appearances, showing glimpses of the form that made him one of Brazil’s hottest prospects.

From the first day I arrived at Real Betis, I felt like I was part of a family,” Roque said.

“Here, I’ve regained my happiness and confidence. That’s what football is about being happy and contributing to the team.”

The loan move to Betis has not only given Roque consistent minutes but also a platform to showcase his talent without the overwhelming scrutiny he faced at Barcelona.

Lessons Learned at Barcelona

Despite the challenges, Roque considers his time at Barça a crucial learning experience.

The biggest lesson was knowing that things pass and enduring the process, which is not easy.”

“If I want to achieve my biggest goals, I need to know how to handle tough times.”

Barcelona’s faith in Roque remains steadfast, as evidenced by the €500 million release clause in his contract.

The club views him as a long-term asset, and his loan stint is seen as an opportunity for him to develop further.

Inspired by Vinícius Júnior

Roque draws inspiration from Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior, who also endured a tough start in Europe before emerging as one of the world’s best.

Sometimes my representatives use Vinícius as an example of how to fight for your space, and I completely agree.”

“He’s a player who didn’t have an easy life when he arrived but is now reaping the rewards of persistence.

Looking Ahead

While his future remains uncertain, with Betis having an option to extend his stay or make his move permanent, Roque is focused on the present.

Step by step,” he emphasized. “My biggest aim is to have an excellent season here at Betis and, God willing, make the national team.”

Roque will face his parent club this Saturday in a highly anticipated La Liga clash, where he hopes to make an impression against Barcelona.

The match also offers an opportunity to reunite with compatriot Raphinha, who has found his stride this season at Barça.

Vitor Roque’s journey is a testament to resilience and adaptability. From the pressure-filled environment at Barcelona to the supportive atmosphere at Real Betis, the young forward is proving that setbacks are merely stepping stones on the path to greatness.

As he continues to grow, both mentally and professionally, Roque’s dream of becoming a key player for club and country remains firmly within reach.
