Daniele De Rossi has been dismissed as Roma’s head coach following a challenging start to the 2024/25 season.
A beloved figure at the club, De Rossi made over 600 appearances and spent 18 years at Roma as a player, earning the admiration and affection of supporters.
Initially appointed on an interim basis to replace Jose Mourinho, who was also let go in January, De Rossi recently signed a contract extension until 2027.
However, after a winless start to the current league campaign, the club has decided to part ways with him.

Despite his short tenure, De Rossi led Roma to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals last season and secured a sixth-place finish in Serie A.
However, the team now sits just one point above the relegation zone in 16th place, following three draws in their first four league matches.
The club’s statement read:
“AS Roma announces that Daniele De Rossi has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team.
“The club’s decision is made in the best interests of the team, to get back on the desired path as soon as possible at a time when the season is still in its early stages.
“A heartfelt thank you to Daniele, who will always be at home at the Giallorossi club, for the work he has done in recent months with passion and dedication.
“Communication regarding the team’s technical guidance will follow.”
Roma came close to securing their first win of the season against Genoa on Sunday, only to be denied by a 96th-minute equalizer from Koni De Winter.
The club is now searching for its eighth manager in 11 years as it grapples with ongoing struggles for stability and success.
With a busy schedule ahead, including a home league match against Udinese and a Europa League clash with Athletic Bilbao on Thursday, Roma’s board will need to act swiftly to find a new leader.
