Harry Maguire score late goal to Manchester United 1 point against Porto

In a dramatic Europa League clash on Thursday night, Harry Maguire netted a 91st-minute equalizer, allowing ten-man Manchester United to salvage a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw with FC Porto.

Porto began the match on the front foot, but it was Manchester United who struck first. In the seventh minute, Marcus Rashford found the net with a well-placed shot that slipped past Porto’s goalkeeper, Diogo Costa.

The goal marked Rashford’s fourth of the season, showcasing his remarkable footwork and ability to break into dangerous areas.

Rashford continued to shine by setting up Rasmus Hojlund, who scored to double United’s lead, also finding a gap in Costa’s defense.

However, Porto responded quickly; in the 27th minute, veteran defender Pepe headed home after a smart save from United’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, reducing the deficit.

The equalizer came in the 34th minute as Samu Omorodion headed in a cross from Joao Mario, capitalizing on United’s struggles to defend aerial balls.

Omorodion struck again in the 50th minute, turning a Pepe cross into the net, completing Porto’s comeback and leaving United reeling.

Bruno Fernandes’ night took a turn for the worse in the 81st minute when he received a second yellow card for a high boot, forcing United to play with ten men for the final moments of the match.

Despite the disadvantage, United pushed for an equalizer and found it in dramatic fashion. In the 91st minute, Maguire headed in a corner from Christian Eriksen, securing a vital point for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Omorodion was a standout performer for Porto, scoring twice and posing constant threats, suggesting he has the potential to become one of football’s top strikers.

Porto had successfully won the race for the 20-year-old’s signature over the summer, and his performance underscores that investment.

Looking ahead, Manchester United will shift their focus back to the Premier League, where they are set to face Aston Villa on Sunday.

Porto, on the other hand, aims to maintain momentum in their domestic league, taking on Braga the same night.
