Harry Maguire Highlights Contrast Between Ruben Amorim and Erik Ten Hag’s Styles

Harry Maguire praise Ruben Amorim

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has shed light on the stark differences between the managerial styles of current boss Ruben Amorim and former manager Erik Ten Hag.

Maguire believes the transition under Amorim will be challenging but remains confident in the team’s ability to adapt and succeed.

A New Era at Manchester United

Ruben Amorim was appointed as United’s manager in November following the dismissal of Erik Ten Hag, whose tenure ended after a poor string of results.

Amorim brought an immediate spark to the team, securing four wins and a draw in his first seven matches, including a crucial 2-1 victory over rivals Manchester City.

However, United’s form has faltered recently, with the team suffering three consecutive losses since the Manchester derby on December 15.

Maguire on the Transition Period

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maguire explained that Amorim’s approach differs significantly from Ten Hag‘s, making the adjustment period more complex.

“The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles,” Maguire said.

“They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand. So the transition period is going to be tough.”

Despite the challenges, Maguire expressed his faith in Amorim and his coaching staff.

“We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around. He [Amorim] knows exactly what he needs to do to get this club back.”

Amorim’s Approach: Demanding and Precise

According to Maguire, Amorim has made his expectations clear and has taken decisive steps to implement his vision.

“He has come in and done everything he needs to do. He is really demanding,” Maguire added.

Amorim is known for his high-energy, pressing style, which contrasts sharply with Ten Hag’s more structured, possession-based approach.

This tactical shift requires the squad to adapt not only physically but also mentally to the demands of the new system.

United’s Current Position and Next Challenge

Manchester United’s recent slump has seen them fall to 14th place in the Premier League, far from the heights the club aspires to reach.

However, there is optimism within the camp as they prepare to face Newcastle on Monday. The team will be aiming to secure three crucial points and begin climbing back up the table.

As Manchester United navigates this transitional phase under Ruben Amorim, the team’s ability to adapt to his unique style will be pivotal.

While the challenges are evident, the players’ belief in the new manager suggests there is potential for a turnaround.

A victory against Newcastle could serve as a springboard for renewed momentum in the second half of the season.

By addressing the contrasts in coaching philosophies and focusing on long-term improvement, United hopes to reclaim its status as a Premier League contender under Amorim’s leadership.
