Harry Kane delivered a historic performance on Tuesday, netting four goals to raise his Champions League tally to 34, surpassing the previous record of 30 held by Wayne Rooney for the most goals scored by an English player in the competition.

The night was filled with milestones for both Kane and Bayern Munich, as they secured a commanding 9-2 victory over Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the opening round of the newly formatted Champions League.

He went on to convert two more penalties, bringing his total to 12 Champions League goals since joining Bayern a year ago.

Since his move from Tottenham, Kane has been prolific, scoring 53 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions for Bayern.

His recent form is especially impressive, with nine goals in his last three matches for club and country,

including a brace for England against Finland in his 100th international appearance and a hat-trick against Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga.

Another milestone came when Thomas Müller made his 152nd Champions League appearance for Bayern, setting the record for the most matches played for a single club, breaking the previous mark held by Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez.
