“It’s about us, not just one player”_Pep Guardiola Defends Erling Haaland Amid Manchester City’s Form Struggles

Guardiola back Erling Haaland struggle

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has come to the defense of star striker Erling Haaland, emphasizing the need for the team to “use him better” as they look to overcome a challenging run of form.

Despite being second in the Premier League’s goal-scoring charts with 13 goals this season, Haaland has found the net just four times in his last 13 appearances.

The 24-year-old’s dip in form has mirrored City’s recent struggles, with the team dropping to seventh place in the league table after securing only one win in their last eight matches.

Addressing the media ahead of City’s Boxing Day clash against Everton, Guardiola highlighted the collective responsibility to maximize Haaland’s impact.

“It’s about us, not just one player.”

“When Erling was scoring prolifically, it was because of the team. He remains crucial for us, and we need to use him better.

The reasons for our struggles are complex, involving both small and significant details that have affected our performance.”

Guardiola acknowledged that the team is working harder than ever to address their issues but admitted there is no easy solution to their current malaise.

“This situation is new for all of us.”

“The players are running, fighting, and giving their best effort. It’s not about blaming individuals—be it players or the manager.

It’s about improving those small and large details that have held us back. We have another chance to turn things around on Boxing Day.”

The manager remains optimistic about the team’s potential recovery, noting that injured players like Éderson, Matheus Nunes, and John Stones are making progress.

City will also hold training sessions on both Tuesday and Christmas Day evening in preparation for the Everton match.

With key players returning and the team pushing for improvements, Guardiola and his squad are determined to regain their momentum as they look to climb back up the Premier League table.
