Everton manager David Moyes has made a surprising admission – he hasn’t set foot in the Toffees’ new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, and won’t until the team’s Premier League survival is guaranteed.
Moyes returned to Everton after a 12-year absence and has since masterminded a remarkable turnaround.
The team has lost just once in its last 10 Premier League fixtures, moving 17 points clear of the relegation zone with nine games remaining.
A Steely Resolve
Everton’s newfound resolve has allowed fans to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the team is likely to play in their new stadium as a Premier League club rather than a Championship one.
The Toffees have already hosted two test events at the 52,888-seater venue, with players visiting the site before the start of the season.
However, Moyes himself has not taken a tour of the facilities. In fact, he’s refused to visit until survival is secured.

Moyes’ Motivation
“I’ve not been to the new stadium yet because I’m not going to go until I feel as if we are safe.”
“It looks a lot easier, the league table, than when I first came in. It’s a much better feeling than what I had when I arrived.”
Moyes acknowledged that while the team’s position looks more secure, he’s not taking anything for granted.
“But we hope to try and keep winning and get ourselves into an even stronger position.”
A Sneak Peek?
Moyes confirmed that he hasn’t even had a sneak peek at the new stadium.
“If we were going to be a Championship team, I don’t know if it’d have been me who’d still be doing that job.”
“I want to make sure that when we go, we’re a guaranteed Premier League team.”
European Ambitions
Moyes is already dreaming of bringing European football back to Everton next season.
“I think you look at the Premier League and you look at the teams who are challenging for the European cup competitions this year,” he said.
“I think the league this year’s thrown up a lot of teams who think ‘Hey, we’ve got a chance of making those competitions’.”
Inspiration from the Past
Moyes drew inspiration from his time at West Ham, where he guided the team to Europa League qualification after avoiding relegation.
“I’m going to use that as my inspiration in what I’m looking to try and do here at Everton.”
Challenges Ahead
Moyes acknowledged that the team faces challenges ahead, including adapting to their new stadium.
“We know we need to make a lot of changes. We’re moving to a new stadium which itself could bring difficulties, which a lot of teams have found when they move to new stadiums.”
A Positive Outlook
Despite the challenges, Moyes remains optimistic about the team’s future.
“But hey, I want to be positive. I want the club to change in the way they’re looking at things and we want to look up and see if we can challenge a lot of the top teams.”
With Moyes at the helm, Everton fans can look forward to an exciting future, both on and off the pitch.
