‘Everyone Can Say What They Want’: Benzema Chooses Brazilian Ronaldo Over Cristiano Ronaldo

Benzema choose Brazilian Ronaldo ahead Cristiano Ronaldo

Karim Benzema has pushed back against Cristiano Ronaldo’s assertion that he is the greatest footballer of all time.

The two former Real Madrid teammates enjoyed nine successful seasons together, contributing significantly to the Spanish club’s trophy-laden era.

However, while their chemistry on the pitch was undeniable, their opinions on football’s greatest player diverge.

Earlier this month, Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, made headlines with a bold statement to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito.

“I honestly haven’t seen anyone better than me,” Ronaldo declared.

“You have to look at the numbers, full stop. I believe I am the most complete player who has ever existed. It’s me.

“I do everything in football. I play well in terms of heading the ball, I’m good at free-kicks, I’m good with my left foot, I’m quick, I’m strong, I jump. I am the best player ever, I believe that.”

While Ronaldo tops Real Madrid’s all-time scoring charts with 451 goals in 438 matches, Benzema, who netted 354 goals in 648 appearances, holds the second spot.

With such a close perspective on Ronaldo’s career, Benzema’s opinion carries weight—and it differs sharply from Ronaldo’s self-assessment.

Addressing reporters, the French striker remarked:

“I think everyone can say what they want. If he thinks he is the best in history, then he is. It depends. For me, for example, the best is Ronaldo from Brazil.”

Benzema emphasized his reluctance to compare players, adding,

“I don’t like to make comparisons between players. Each one has their own story. Cristiano has his own, and it’s a very good one.”

Currently captaining Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Benzema is set to face Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr later this season. Their highly anticipated clash is scheduled for May, adding another layer of intrigue to their contrasting viewpoints.
