Arsenal Set to Open Contract Talks with Bukayo Saka Amid Summer Squad Overhaul

Arsenal on talk with Bukayo Saka new deal

Arsenal are preparing to initiate formal negotiations with Bukayo Saka over a new contract as the club aims to secure the long-term future of one of its most prized assets.

Mikel Arteta is set for a crucial summer transfer window, with Arsenal expected to spend significantly to close the gap on their Premier League rivals. With the club likely to finish as runners-up for a third consecutive season, Arsenal’s hierarchy is keen to provide their manager with the resources needed to challenge for the title.

After a quiet January window, the Gunners are poised to make major moves in the transfer market, prioritizing a top-class striker and a midfield reinforcement.

However, ensuring key players remain committed to the project is equally vital starting with Saka’s contract renewal.

The 23-year-old winger last signed a contract extension in 2022 but is now expected to negotiate improved terms on his current £10 million-a-year deal. Given his standout performances this season, Saka is well-positioned to command a significant pay rise.

Arsenal will want to avoid any uncertainty surrounding his future, especially with clubs like Manchester City previously expressing interest in the England international.

As one of Europe’s top wingers, Saka’s stock continues to rise, and the Gunners are eager to prevent his contract from running down into its final year.

According to the BBC, Arsenal are keen to finalize a new agreement swiftly to avert any potential transfer saga. The club remains optimistic that talks will lead to a positive outcome, ensuring Saka remains central to Arteta’s long-term vision.

While contract discussions are set to begin, Saka’s immediate focus is on completing his rehabilitation after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury sustained against Crystal Palace in November.

The talented winger has been sorely missed, with Arsenal’s attacking options depleted since the start of the year.

However, Saka has been making steady progress and is targeting a return after the international break, with Arsenal set to face Fulham at the Emirates on April 1.

A week later, the Gunners will host Real Madrid in a blockbuster Champions League quarter-final first leg, with the return fixture in Madrid scheduled shortly after.

With most of Arsenal’s squad heading off for international duty, Saka will remain at the club’s training ground to step up his rehabilitation.

Arteta provided an encouraging update, revealing that Saka has been progressing well and is now moving closer to full-team training.

“He is going to be here [at the Arsenal training ground], hopefully more with the ball at his feet than he has had,” Arteta said.

“That will mean he is passing the ball, shooting, and running he has already done a lot on his own.”

As Arsenal look to strengthen their squad this summer, securing Saka’s long-term commitment will be a top priority alongside their ambitious transfer plans.
