Jorginho: Arsenal Focused on Victory, Not Haaland’s Form, In Manchester City Showdown

Jorginho eye on Man city victory

Jorginho insists that Arsenal are not allowing Erling Haaland’s incredible start to the season to distract them ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland has been in sensational form during Manchester City’s flawless start, netting nine goals in just four Premier League matches.

With City sitting at the top of the table, Arsenal are right behind them in second, trailing by only two points.

The Gunners will face the challenge of stopping Haaland, but Jorginho emphasizes that they cannot let the Norwegian striker’s current form dominate their mindset.

Jorginho:

“Erling scoring again, it is starting to make us laugh! We look [at what he is doing] because we look at all the games and we love football.”

“We love the Premier League so we watch all the games to be fair. We watch them as well, which is normal.

“Again it doesn’t get into our head. We need to focus on us and that is what we are trying to do.”

Arsenal continued their strong away form with a victory over Tottenham last Sunday.

Since the start of the year, they have played 11 Premier League away games, winning 10 and drawing one.

“If you want to achieve big things you need to have the mentality of trying to win every single game.”

“That is what we need to do and that is what we want to do. That is what we are trying to do.

“You need to keep in this way. Keep believing in what you are doing.

We are believing in what we are doing and we keep working hard to improve on what we need to improve and keep doing right the things we are doing right.

“I think we are on the right way and we need to keep it going.”

That lone draw occurred at the Etihad in March of last season, but Jorginho is confident they will be aiming for all three points this time around.

Before Sunday’s showdown, Haaland will be looking to hit a career milestone in Wednesday’s Champions League match against Inter Milan, while Arsenal will begin their European journey against Atalanta on Thursday.
