Ruben Amorim Concerned As Lisandro Martínez Suffers Potentially Serious Injury in Manchester United’s Defeat to Crystal Palace

Manchester United concern on Lisandro Martinez injury

Manchester United’s defensive woes deepened as Lisandro Martínez was stretchered off during their 2-0 Premier League loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manager Ruben Amorim expressed concern that the Argentine defender could be facing another long-term injury setback.

Martínez’s Injury Raises Major Concerns

The Argentina international had to be replaced in the 82nd minute following a seemingly innocuous challenge with Palace forward Ismaïla Sarr.

However, after extended medical attention on the pitch, the former Ajax defender was carried off, raising fears of another serious injury.

Since his arrival at Manchester United in 2022, Martínez has endured multiple injury setbacks, including metatarsal and knee issues that led to prolonged absences.

Amorim now worries that the 26-year-old might be sidelined yet again.

“Licha [Martínez] is really important for us not just as a player, but also as a character.”

“It looks bad. We will wait for confirmation from the medical team, but I think it is serious.”

“Players often know when something is wrong, and from his reaction, it doesn’t look good. We will support him through this difficult moment, just as he has always supported us.”

Manchester United’s Struggles Continue

United’s loss to Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace marked their seventh home defeat of the Premier League season, equaling the club’s relegation-season record from 1973-74.

The result leaves them languishing in 13th place, far from their expected top-four ambitions.

Amorim lamented the defensive lapses that led to both Palace goals, believing the defeat was avoidable.

“It was a tough day for the team and the fans.”

“We lost again, and both goals could have been prevented. The supporters are understandably frustrated, but football can change quickly.

We must prepare for the next game and keep moving forward. Better times will come.”

With Martínez potentially facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines, United’s defensive problems could deepen further.

Amorim will need to find solutions quickly as the Red Devils aim to turn around their season and climb up the Premier League table.
