Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim has denied rumors linking him to Manchester City, amid uncertainty surrounding Pep Guardiola’s future.
Guardiola’s contract expires next summer, sparking speculation about his potential replacement.
The FA reportedly approached Guardiola about managing England before Thomas Tuchel‘s appointment.
Manchester City are said to be considering Amorim, 39, as a potential successor.
Sporting chief Hugo Viana‘s impending move to City as director of football has fueled these rumors.

However, Amorim distanced himself from the speculation, stating he is committed to Sporting.
“I’m focused on my work here.”
“As long as I’m Sporting manager, I won’t consider other options.”
‘Hugo Viana and I, we have different and separate paths.’
‘His appointment doesn’t mean that I’m going to Manchester City.
‘We just have a very professional relationship, which will not last forever.’
According to Amorim, his situation ‘remains the same’, with the Portuguese contracted to Sporting until 2026.
‘Nothing about Sporting has changed. Nothing. Everything remains the same until the end of the season.’
Obviously, Viana will not be available to enter the dressing room. I’m going to leave him out, to avoid conflicts.
‘Otherwise, everything will stay the same until the end of the season.’
Speaking with Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa during the international break, Guardiola stressed that he needed more time to make a decision on his future.
‘Let’s see on my future,’ the former Guardiola said.
‘I still need to reflect and decide what I want to do.’
Guardiola has achieved immense success at Manchester City, winning 18 trophies, including six Premier League titles. His future remains uncertain, with a potential national team role on the horizon.
Amorim’s impressive managerial rise has garnered attention, but for now, he remains committed to Sporting.
