Manchester United’s Ruben Amorim Unfazed by Job Security Amidst Poor Run

Ruben Amorim rule out Manchester United sacking

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has insisted he is not concerned about his job security, despite his team suffering a disappointing 12th Premier League defeat of the season at Tottenham Hotspur, leaving them languishing in 15th place.

A first-half rebound from James Maddison was enough to secure a 1-0 victory for Spurs in a tightly contested match between two injury-hit squads in London.

Since taking over from Erik ten Hag, Amorim has now lost eight of his 14 league matches.

However, the Portuguese coach emphasized that his primary concern is United’s position in the table rather than speculation over his future.

Amorim Focused on Results, Not Job Security

“I am not worried. I understand our fans and the media’s perspective,” Amorim told the BBC. “I hate losing—that feeling is the worst.

“The rest, I am not thinking about. I am here to support my players. I understand my role and my job. I am confident in my work, and my only focus is winning games.

“The position in the table is my real concern, not myself.”

Frustration Over Missed Opportunities

Amorim lamented the fine margins that decided the game, particularly pointing to Alejandro Garnacho’s squandered chance to equalize before half-time.

“It was the difference in the game—they scored, and we didn’t,” he said. “We created chances, especially in transition, but ultimately, they took theirs, and we didn’t.”

Injury Woes Deepen United’s Crisis

United’s problems were compounded this weekend with the news that winger Amad Diallo has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an ankle ligament injury sustained in training.

The lack of squad depth was evident against Spurs, as Victor Lindelöf was the only senior first-team player on the bench, with the rest comprised of untested academy prospects.

Only Chido Obi-Martin was introduced late in the game, with Amorim explaining his cautious approach to integrating young talent.

“It’s the toughest league in the world, and I am trying to be careful with them,” he said.

“I felt the team was pushing for a goal, and I didn’t want to disrupt that. But they will get their chances.

“You have to read the game and rely on what you see in training. The team was fighting for the equalizer, and I didn’t feel the need to change.”

Next Challenge: Everton

Manchester United will look to bounce back on Saturday when they face a resurgent Everton side under David Moyes. With pressure mounting, Amorim will be desperate to turn things around and steer United away from the bottom half of the table.
