Feyenoord Part Ways with Manager Brian Priske Ahead of Crucial Champions League Clash

Feyenoord sack Brian priske

Feyenoord have officially parted ways with head coach Brian Priske, just two days before their crucial Champions League knockout tie against AC Milan, the Dutch club confirmed on Monday.

Priske, who took over the reins last June on a three-year deal following Arne Slot’s departure to Liverpool, has faced mounting pressure due to a series of underwhelming performances.

Despite securing a 3-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam on Saturday—Feyenoord’s first league win in five games—the club remains 12 points adrift of Eredivisie leaders Ajax.

Additionally, their KNVB Cup title defense ended prematurely after a defeat to PSV Eindhoven last week.

Inconsistent Form Leads to Departure

In an official statement, Feyenoord cited inconsistent results and a lack of chemistry as key factors behind Priske’s dismissal.

“While Brian led the team to some remarkable results, particularly in the Champions League, overall performances have been too inconsistent in recent months, and we see insufficient structural progress,” the club stated.

One of the high points of Priske’s tenure was Feyenoord’s emphatic 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League last month.

However, their campaign took a major hit with a crushing 6-1 defeat to Lille, which saw them finish 19th in the league phase standings.

What’s Next for Feyenoord?

With a high-stakes showdown against AC Milan looming on Wednesday, Feyenoord are expected to announce an interim coach and backroom staff on Tuesday.

The Dutch giants will be hoping for stability as they look to salvage their European campaign and push for a stronger finish in the Eredivisie.
