Tottenham Hotspur’s recent struggles in the Premier League have put manager Ange Postecoglou under scrutiny, but Dejan Kulusevski has firmly backed the Australian coach, insisting that the club’s poor form stems from wider issues beyond the manager or players.
Postecoglou Under Pressure as Spurs Struggle in the League
Spurs currently sit 15th in the Premier League after managing just one win in their last 11 league matches.
However, the team remains in contention for silverware, with a crucial Europa League clash against IF Elfsborg on Thursday that could secure their place in the knockout stages. Additionally, Tottenham is still competing in both domestic cup competitions, keeping hopes of success alive.
Despite these positives, Postecoglou has faced mounting challenges this winter.
A severe injury crisis has ravaged the squad, with Spurs missing 11 senior players during their recent 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City.

Despite the manager’s repeated pleas for reinforcements, the club has yet to sign a senior outfield player in the current transfer window.
Kulusevski: “The Situation Is Not OK”
Speaking candidly about the club’s struggles, Kulusevski admitted the situation is far from ideal but echoed his manager’s belief that the season can still be salvaged.
“I agree with [Postecoglou],” the Swedish international said. “We’re doing really well in the cups, so while it’s easy to focus on the league struggles, we’re still in a strong position elsewhere.
If we win against Elfsborg, we progress, and I believe we can achieve good things in the final four months of the season.”
Kulusevski also pointed to Tottenham’s standout performances earlier in the campaign as proof that Postecoglou is the right man to lead the club forward.
“We’ve played some amazing football, games that not many teams in the world can replicate.
We were fantastic against Manchester United and even put four past Manchester City. That’s why I believe in our manager—he has the right vision, and we play for him.”
Spurs’ Injury Crisis Taking a Toll
When asked why he remains confident in Postecoglou’s project despite the poor league form, Kulusevski was clear in his assessment.
“I see the truth from my side. People can say whatever they want, but the reality is we’re dealing with a very difficult situation.
The league results are bad, and losing on Sunday was tough, but you have to stay clear-minded and focus on the bigger picture.
“We’ve made mistakes, absolutely. But when you’re playing three games a week with just 10 or 11 fit players, that takes a toll.
No other team is dealing with this kind of situation. That’s why we’re struggling in the league—it’s not just about the manager or the players, it’s about everything surrounding the club.”
Looking Ahead: Can Spurs Turn Their Season Around?
With just five points from the last available 33 in the league, Tottenham faces a critical period. After their Europa League tie against Elfsborg, they travel to Brentford for another challenging fixture.
Despite the recent setbacks, Kulusevski remains optimistic about the club’s prospects.
“Losing this many league games is painful—it’s really tough for me. But I have to keep looking at the bigger picture.
We’re still in three cup competitions, and I believe we can do something special. Yes, it’s been a struggle, but I still see opportunities ahead.”
As Tottenham fights to salvage their season, the coming weeks will be pivotal in determining whether Postecoglou’s vision can still lead Spurs to success.
