‘Welcome to United, to England’_Pep Guardiola Welcomes New Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorim To The Premier League

Premier League Coach welcome Ruben Amorim to Manchester United

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has extended a warm welcome to Ruben Amorim, the newly appointed head coach of Manchester United.

Amorim’s arrival brings new energy to the Premier League, with the Portuguese coach officially set to take charge at United on November 11, under a contract that runs until 2027.

Following the departure of Erik ten Hag earlier this week, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been leading the team on an interim basis.

He will continue in this role for United’s upcoming matches, allowing Amorim time to prepare for his new role.

During his pre-match press conference, ahead of City’s weekend clash with Bournemouth, Guardiola offered encouraging words for his counterpart.

Welcome to United, to England,” said Guardiola.

“I congratulate him, and we’ll speak next Tuesday. I’m not the right person to give advice to colleagues.

United has plenty of people who can provide him with all the insight he needs.”

Guardiola praised Amorim’s abilities, referencing City’s 5-0 victory over Amorim’s Sporting CP in 2021.

All I can say is from our experience playing against Ruben’s Sporting Lisbon team, and the pressure was really, really good.

So, he’s a high-level manager,” Guardiola noted.

“I know Manchester United don’t appoint managers lightly—they’ve always looked for someone with strong credentials.

What worked here at City may not work there, but every manager builds their own path.”

Premier League Managers React to Amorim’s Appointment

Other Premier League managers have also weighed in on Amorim’s new role at United, sharing their support for his transition to English football.

Chelsea’s Enzo Maresca offered his best wishes, saying,

All the best to him. If those in charge at United chose him, they believe he’s the right fit.”

Aston Villa’s Unai Emery expressed familiarity with Amorim, remarking,

We’ve faced each other before, and he’s done great work in Portugal with Sporting. United’s choice reflects his capability.”

Fulham’s Marco Silva celebrated his compatriot’s success:

It’s great to see a friend achieve his ambition. He’s an excellent coach, and I wish him success at United.”

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna, who previously worked at United, shared his excitement, noting,

When United visits Portman Road, it’s always special.

Amorim’s arrival will make it even more interesting, and I wish him success—just not when they play us!”

Ruben Amorim’s appointment at United is being met with anticipation and well wishes from across the Premier League, marking the start of an exciting chapter for Manchester United as they seek to reclaim their place among England’s elite clubs.
