Tottenham To Face Manchester United In Carabao Cup Quarterfinal Clash; Liverpool Heads To Southampton

Carabao cup quarterfinal draw

Tottenham Hotspur is set to host Manchester United in the highly anticipated Carabao Cup quarterfinals, while reigning champions Liverpool will travel to face Southampton in the south coast.

This is the first time in 14 years that the Carabao Cup has seen an all-Premier League lineup at the quarterfinal stage.

Arsenal will go head-to-head with Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United will host Brentford.

Manchester United responded to the recent sacking of Erik ten Hag with a dominant 5-2 victory over Leicester City on Wednesday.

They scored four goals in the first 38 minutes, showcasing the sharpness that had been missing under the former Dutch manager.

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro was in fine form, netting two goals in the first half, including a superb 30-meter strike.

Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes added to United’s early lead, with Fernandes scoring again in the second half to seal the victory.

Ruud van Nistelrooy, United’s former star striker, took temporary charge after Ten Hag’s departure.

The match was bittersweet for Premier League leaders Manchester City, who fell 2-1 to Tottenham. Goals from Timo Werner and Pape Matar Sarr gave Tottenham an early lead, with Matheus Nunes pulling one back for City.

Meanwhile, Liverpool secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Brighton, thanks to two goals from Cody Gakpo and a late strike from Luis Díaz.

Despite a strong comeback attempt by Brighton, Liverpool held on to continue their title defense.

With 10 League Cup trophies under their belt, the Reds remain on course to defend their title and will meet Southampton in the quarterfinals.

Newcastle also advanced after a 2-0 victory over Chelsea, courtesy of an Alexander Isak goal and an own-goal by Axel Disasi.

Crystal Palace defeated Aston Villa 2-1, setting up their clash with Arsenal, who beat Preston North End 3-0 with goals from Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri, and Kai Havertz.
