Erik ten Hag Defends Manchester United Position Amid “Fairytales And Lies”

Erik ten Hag on Manchester United rumors

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has launched a scathing attack on sections of the media, accusing them of spreading “fairytales and lies” about his position at the club.

The Dutch boss’s comments come ahead of United’s crucial clash with Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.

United’s Slow Start

Ten Hag’s side sits 14th in the Premier League table, having secured just two wins from seven games this season.

The team’s attacking woes have been evident, with only five goals scored so far.

Owner’s Support

Despite the poor start, Ten Hag insists that the atmosphere within the club remains “quiet and composed” under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos, who took over the footballing operations of the club in the offseason.

Ten Hag’s Verdict

In his pre-match press conference, Ten Hag slammed the media for creating unnecessary noise around his position.

“Noise is only coming from some of you in the media, creating stories and fairytales, and bringing lies,” he said.

“Journalists didn’t believe me. I saw the reports. Of course, we are unhappy with the position where we are.

“Ultimately, internally it is quiet and composed. We stick to the plan and are very convinced it will be a success.”

“We have to climb a mountain. Sometimes you have to face challenges. I am sure we will make a success.

“We are in a direction, underneath I see good things and good stats that confirms we are in a good direction. But we see ranking that is not good enough.”
